The Florida International University has listed New Smyrna Beach in Florida as one of the state’s top 10 beaches. While this beach ranks at the top of the list the beach’s reputation isn’t that great. In 2007 there were 112 shark attacks worldwide. Of these shark attacks 17 of them occurred at New Smyrna Beach. There are a variety of species of sharks in the water including bull sharks, black tip sharks, and spinner sharks. These sharks will see people splashing around in the water and mistake humans for food. Over the past several years there have been a total of 238 shark attacks at this Beach. Luckily none of them have been fatal.

Guinness world records have named new Smyrna beach the shark attack capital of the world. When visiting the beach you should worry just as much when you are out of the water as when you are in it. Because thieves are very common on the shore.

 

Herd Island is actually a giant volcano located 2548 miles southwest of Perth. The island is technically owned by Australia. It is much closer though to Antarctica. It is not your typical tropical getaway spot because the waters are dangerously cold. While most people don’t consider this the perfect vacation spot.

There are some extreme surfers who are willing to brave the icy waters due to the once of a lifetime waves that occur at high tide.

 

This is a beach that is located in Northern Queensland. The beach’s name is a warning for visitors to be careful. As the waters are home to some very dangerous creatures. Crocodile sightings are rare but they do happen. If you’re sitting on the beach trying to get some sun you need to worry about cassowaries. Who are related to the EMU. It is also common to see venomous snakes on the beach.

The water can be just as dangerous as the land from October to early June thanks to the thousands of boxed jellyfish. These creatures swarm near the beach and they’re translucent making them almost impossible to see. They are the most venomous jellyfish in the world.

When they sting a swimmer the individual will die in minutes. The jellyfish venom attacks the victim’s cardiovascular system causing them to drown.  Since 1883 these jellyfish have been responsible for at least seventy deaths.

 

There was a time that shark attacks were unheard of on the beaches near Recife Brazil. This all changed in 1992. Since then there have been at least 50 shark attacks reported in these waters. Of these attacks 19 of them were fatal.

According to environmentalists when the fishing boats came to the waters and destroyed the coastal ecosystem the sharks started swimming closer to the shores and attacking swimmers. The closer the boats came to the shore the more it disrupted the sharks.

 

Shenzhen beach is located just across the border of Hong Kong. It is a very popular spot for both locals and tourists. The beach is so popular that it often becomes dangerously overcrowded. There is often no room to move on the beach and in the water. Due to the overcrowding accidents are a very common occurrence.

One of the most common accidents is children under the age of 14 drowning because they’re not strong enough to get larger people off of them. This is one beach where it is the humans that you need to watch out for not the sea creatures.
